About Us

Neale Spencer and Adele Mulford, have both spent most of their lives growing and experimenting with botanicals, with love and determination.

Together they established Growtime in September 2016. They possess a passion for producing quality plants that are strong, healthy and ready for the next stage of their lives, when leaving the Growtime Nursery.

Presently supplying Macadamia and Avocado trees to wholesale nurseries and growers. They are enjoying growing a variety of other plants and trees for their growing client base.

The Beaumont variety is a tough tree, has a good root system and a high yield making it one of our first choices for seedling rootstock. Other cultivars may be used on client’s request.

Beaumont is also the most popular Macadamia tree planted in South Africa and is considered to be a good choice for hotter climates.

Avocado Trees 

When it comes to Avocado rootstock … it’s a tricky one, there is no single rootstock that is perfect for all conditions, however the Guatemalan Edranol has been the most widely used rootstock in South Africa since the 1940's and is considered to be amongst the best available in South Africa. 

The tree is erect, a vigorous grower, produces uniform germination and growth, and is resistant to cold temperatures (>-2°C)

Moringa Trees 

Our Moringa seed come direct from our own orchard. The Moringa Oleifera is also known as the Drumstick tree, horseradish and bean oil tree. Moringa trees grow best in temperatures of 25 to 30°C, but may also be planted in containers and brought indoors or placed on a sheltered patio during the winter months in colder climates. They tolerate a medium conditioned soil that is well-drained. They will also grow really well in high clay content soils. 
Often the Moringa tree is referred to as ''the miracle tree''
This is because it is one of nature's richest sources of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The leaves are may also be used as a nutritional source for livestock.
